Allow design to dry in a warm environment.
Once your mehndi design is just dry (not yet crumbly
and not mushy) apply lemon-sugar fixative over the design with a cotton ball.
Recipe for lemon - sugar:
Approximately
1 tablespoon lemon juice to 1 teaspoon sugar.
Stir until dissolved.
1. Apply lemon sugar fixative. Wear it on the skin for 2 -12 hours. Repeat applications of lemon sugar can keep the henna moist, and help it to darken. Wrapping the applied design with tissue and plastic can trap body heat and moisture, ideal for henna color.
2. After wearing the design for two to twelve hours, remove the remaining henna with a liberal amount of olive oil, or any vegetable oil. DO NOT USE WATER. Water causes the coloring process to cease.
3. Keep design well coated with oil, and avoid direct water contact for another 24 hours.
4.The design will deepen from a light orange into a mahogany color over a 48 hour time period.
5.To maintain the life of your design, continue to coat with oil or moisture barrier before exposure to water. Avoid soap and scrubbing.
6. Depending on aftercare of the design, your skin type and area of application, henna can last several days to several weeks. It is best worn in the happiness that is YOU.
